I get so many emails of thanks for the morning inspirations I send out. I’d thought I start sending a little inspiration in the form that helps me the most….. MUSIC

Why 3 songs? People are always saying death comes in 3′s, but I say the opposite. Life comes in 3′s for me.. 3 means so much to me… I realized that once I turned 33…For some of you I pray you get to enjoy life as much as you can and not wait until you’re in your 30′s to realize you potential and if you’re like me and accept your calling when you turn 30, remember those who are younger than you and share a little inspiration to lift them up..

Destination: Prom

Yay!! Prom season was a hit!! Special thanks to all those involved who dedicated their time and services to our Prom campaign. I never had the oppurtunity to attend prom, so this project was very dear to my heart and I got a lil piece of  my prom through the kids we had the opportunity to help.  I especially want to thank my husband and kids for allowing me to dedicate so much time, energy and money (sorry honey) into this project and a special Thank You to the people High Up who could have opted out to extend a hand, but they gave time, services and money to help Destination: Prom become a great success for some seniors! Thanks to: Shun Melson, Celebrity Stylist and owner of Creative SolutionZ, Tami Reed, host of Talking with Tami, Kiara Akita, actress(Tyler Perry’s Family that Preys, Somebodies and more), Deshawn Snow, Former Atlanta Housewife and founder of The Deshawn Snow Foundation, Shawty Lo, Your favorite rappers, favorite rapper, thanks for your contributions in dressing the kids!! Dwight Eubanks, Housewives of Atlanta, owner of The Purple Door, Gaby, Sharon and Lamonte Creative Partners of Salon Accents and Rochelle, owner of Rochelle’s House of Beauty, thanks for your talant and vision in completing the look, you guys rock! Kudos to Michon, Owner of Michon’s Loft for sponsoring dinner on Prom night! Thank you Yakita Wilkerson, owner of Futuristic Branding for adopting this campaign and putting together the awesome Shoe Drive, it was a huge success and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for thinking of Divva Dishes; Blessing in the Sky! I know it was all God’s doing but I have to send a thanks to Nicole owner of the Garner Circle, if it was not for her forwarding my email we would have never met! Thanks Nicole… Lastly to my buddy, brother, new bff, Taylor owner of Indakno.com how can I ever repay you, what don’t tell me lol! From hanging in salons all day for photo opps, to driving kids from school and proms,lol, to picking up tuxs,  and the list goes on and on, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, can’t wait to see the entire process put together on film. You’re the best!  Whooo Hooooo I had a great time during this entire process… Can’t wait till next year!! Here’s some photos, enjoy!!

Just wanted to take a moment

To tell you guys how grateful I am! I stopped to take a break at one of my favorite smoothie & wrap spots (Tropical Cafe Smoothie-Peachtree St.) while sitting here tears of joy filled my eyes. Everyone who knows me is aware of how my heart is always thanking of others. Sometimes people come on board, sometimes they don’t either way I still keep the passion to help others. After three days of planning, writing stuff down and meditating to God to make sure I made the right moves with this Prom Campaign, I can mess up and keep trying with my hunger and homeless mission because I know this is a long battle ahead of me and I’m ready for that, but these high school seniors are depending on me to accomplish this mission so I know it has to be right from the start. I made some calls yesterday my dear friends Hair & Make-Up by Gaby, Rochelle w/ Your New Self told me I didn’t have to ask, I should have all ready known I had them on board. I love you guys, muah!! Well let me tell today was my first day actually out on the street and I got nothing but positive results!! My first stop was with Dwight Eubanks owner of The Purple Door,cast of Housewives of Atlanta, the meeting was all of five minutes and he said “send me ten girls” wow!, following that meeting I headed over to meet with Celebrity Stylist Derek J, once again meeting no more than five minutes “say no more, I’m in” God is Good, not only did he join the mission he made a phone call to John w/ Arena Barbershop, informed him about the campaign and “you already know”.. Minutes later I called to give him more details and to get a number of boys he would like to sign up for, he said “send them all, we’ll take care of them” Praise God!! Let’s not talk about the response from the celebrities, joy…. I had hip hop artist “Young Ralph” tell me he didn’t own anything for a prom, but he would go and purchase two outfits and the shoes for some lucky young man!! I just can’t explain how grateful I am for the kids. My prayer for everyone that is involved in this mission is blessed above and beyond abundantly for their commitment!! Check back, I’ll keep you guys posted.

Neicy Nash Birthday Soiree

As promised, I said I would update you guys with photos from the party. Derek Blanks is the coolest for hosting this event, he’s such a sweetie and his swag is on point! I had a blast and enjoyed seeing old friends and meeting new ones… My highlight was seeing one of my icons “India Arie” I love her music, she’s s phenominal singer and she sings from the soul!!

Destination: Prom has been created to help high school girls and boys in Atlanta.

 

Destination: Prom is a program under  the Blessing in the Sky Foundation that collects gently used or new prom attire from various celebrities and provides them free to high school girls and boys who

otherwise couldn’t afford them. As well as linking them up with hair stylist, barbers, and make-up artist who have volunteered their services to transform them for an unforgettable night.
 

Every child wants to go to the prom, but today’s economy can make that challenging for many local families. “They see the glitz and glamour on television every day, what better way to lift their spirits then the fact that their prom was made special in part by their
favorite celebrity” says Jayda Cabbell founder of Divva Dishes; co-founder of Blessing in the Sky Foundation. Destination: Prom will collect fashionable, gently used, or new evening attire in all lengths, sizes, fabrics and colors.

I had a great time tonight!!

Just a wanted to drop a few words before turning it in.. Tonight I had the opportunity to hep Niecy Nash celebrate her birthday @ Derek Blanks studio… This was really an awesome party… They were also filming an episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta…. I love those girls, each of them have a special place in my heart!! I’m just grateful for being in the midst of such phenomenal people. I really had a great night, I’ll post pics soon.. Nite Nite

Tyler Perry Madea Goes to Jail

Hands down the best movie of 2009, Unless another original Tyler PErry Film comes along! I could sit here and tell you the entire movie, but I’m not going to spoil it for you. Just know there is not a dull moment, I’m wide awoke @ 3 am in the morning. Tyler has out done himself on this one. Gather your family, your friends, co-workers, next door neighbor this one is a classic… Thanks Tami for inviting us, hubby and I had a ball!!

Encouragement

Today I had the opportunity to speak to some high school students of Cedar Grove High. It was part of their Career Week curriculum. It’s always a wonderful experience to give someone hope. It was also humbled at the fact that a lot of the male students were interested in the culinary world. They had a lot of questions. One of the male students stated he watched the food network and loves to cook, he’s gonna make some lady happy…. I encouraged the students to be positive citizens of society by giving back in some form, you sow a seed in someone life and watch the harvest. I pray if nothing else comes from me speaking today that the students will complete high school, and make their a reality. You can dream all day, but until you activate the gift instead of you, just like a wrapped package, the dream will remain hidden.. Good Luck Students, Divva wishes you all the success and blessings.. See you on graduation day!!!
